Everybody has known some form of rejection, be it spiritual, personal or professional.  Let's face it; you live long enough and it's bound to happen to you. Sometimes it happens so much, you begin to feel abandoned by God and each time feels like a knife cut full of searing pain.  Do not despair, according to O. J. Toks' REJECTED FOR A PURPOSE, there is a divine purpose behind rejection and there are definite spiritual benefits.  He proposes that rejection serves to inspire, liberate, prepare, promote, protect, provide, redeem, and redirect.

As human beings, we get relaxed in the way our lives are going.  When we feel contented, we fail to reach for greater heights.  We become complacent in those things we feel are comfortable to us.  Growth becomes almost non-existent.  According to Toks, rejection is what God uses to get us to our next level.  In order for growth to occur, we have to be pushed beyond what is cozy for us.  An example he uses is the birth of a child.  A baby knows he's safe and warm inside the mother's womb. However, we know in order for the baby to reach its full potential, it must leave the womb.  Therefore, at the appropriate time it has to be expelled (rejected) from the mother's womb.  Looking at this spiritually and applying to our lives, God has to push (reject) us into our potential.  Although God has endowed all of us with greatness, we have to be rejected in order to be motivated and moved into the direction of our calling.

REJECTED FOR A PURPOSE is a very timely, enjoyable, and uplifting read.  It is so what the doctor ordered.  Toks uses a combination of real-life and biblical examples to show how God uses rejection for His purpose.  He gives a good dose of scriptures and explanations that inspire and motivate.  This book is really a testament to how God is moving in our lives delicately weaving His will, while we may walk around unknowingly.  Rather than holding on to the negative aspects of rejection, Toks' writing will stimulate you into looking for the divine purpose of rejection.  This is a very worthy read.
