Renee Richards and Craig Thompson have known each other since they were children when Craig was best friends with Renee’s brother. After her brother’s untimely death, Craig made a promise to look Renee up when he was ready to get married, and she agreed. Now he is ready and PROMISES MADE takes us on their journey to lasting love through all the lies, betrayal, deaths and other drama in between.
When Craig contacted Renee and proposed she honor her promise, she thought he had lost his mind. However, she found out quickly that he was serious. Craig was in a situation which required he get married and Renee was dealing with an ex-boyfriend who was threatening her. Both go into the trial marriage with secrets and it will take more than promises for this couple to make their marriage lasting.
PROMISES MADE had intrigue and plenty drama, and the romance evolved in a believable manner. There were several characters who seemed pivotal for the overall suspense. However, the pacing of the story halfway through was slowed down with minutiae details involving the main and the supporting characters. The story itself was interesting, but the slow down in the middle made this a laborious. Yet, closer to the end, the pacing picked up and the story seemed to flow at a more brisk pace and garnered my full attention.
