A different flare

J.R. is some kind of fine and new in town.  Having loved and lost, he isn’t looking for anything but a good time.  He gets his real estate game started and from there his life sky rockets beyond his expectations.  His boss, Julie, thinks JR is not only handsome, but also could be a wonderful asset to her real estate business and she single-handedly hands JR the game plan headed for success.  With his career taking off, JR is feeling himself and seemingly is oozing loads of charm as women are coming out of the woodwork every which way he turns.  He is not hurting for female companionship but sets all of his newly acquired female friends on notice that he is up for having a good time but does not want anything serious.  With his trusted assistant, Jewel, by his side and with Julie as his main supporter, JR is at the top of his game.

Even though JR’s career has sky rocketed and he is wealthier than he can hope to imagine, he did not forget where he came from.  When he meets 14-year old Ricky, JR’s life takes an unexpected turn.  Despite his young age, Ricky is a very talented basketball phenomenon.  However, his take-no-stuff mother, Evelyn, wants her son to focus on academics and not sports.  From the moment JR lays eyes on Evelyn, he is captivated by her presence.  Will he be able to convince Evelyn to let Ricky play basketball and how will he tame his attraction for her?  What happens next is anyone’s guess.

LIGHTS OUT!  GAME OVA is written from a male’s perspective which was refreshing as to how the story line developed.  All of the characters are likeable although their actions were somewhat questionable at times with many sexual conquests.  However, the scenes were not depicted in a lewd manner.  I found the book to be entertaining and did not get caught up in the details as to how someone could literally go from rags to riches so quickly.  I believe I read the pre-published version, so there were some minor typos and grammatical errors that were present throughout the book but this is nothing a good proofreader wouldn’t have caught.   Nonetheless, if you’re looking for an entertaining read, you should consider LIGHTS OUT, GAME OVA!
