A Whole New World
ASTRIA LEGENDS: Exodus by Amanda S. Reaves is a charming account of a unique world beyond the mind’s eye. In another place and time, there is a world hidden away from most of the inhabitants of the Astria Galaxy. But, there are plenty of legends that encompass the entire galaxy and on one small planet one of these stories is unfolding. As it unfurls, the balance of power is interrupted and everything is set into chaos. Restoring this delicate balance comes down to two individuals. Which one will prevail?
Ms. Reaves has written an unusual take on the battle between good and evil in this first book of the Astria Legends series. There is some correlation between events and characters depicted and those found in the Bible. The reader will need to use his/her imagination and the added illustrations will help tremendously. I found the characters, which resembled bunny rabbits, to be very colorful in costume, as well as mannerisms. However, there were too many to keep up with and many were not well-developed. This made the story very hard to follow. I think Ms. Reaves is gifted with a wonderful imagination, but some serious developmental editing and deeper characterization will catapult this series into one that will capture a huge following among teens and young adults.
