Growing old gracefully…yeah, whatever!
Growing older can be a challenge in and of itself. Typically, no one wants to age and they surely don't want to show visible signs of aging, which is evidenced by the amount of money spent annually on plastic surgery. The fact remains the baby boomers are getting older and, as a result, facing several dilemmas. WHATEVER! A Baby Boomer's Journey into Middle Age gives readers a very real and refreshing look at the process as author Beverly Mahone sees it.
In a few scant pages, Mahone shares her personal journey into middle age with readers. Now in her forties, she is facing quite a few things we all will face sooner or later. She tackles menopause, or "the change", first off in her book and then moves on to the dating scene after forty. She goes on to cover relating to teenage children, working for younger employers and pursuing your dreams. Confronting these issues can be hard, but Mahone shows us how she was able to persevere through faith and learning a few hard lessons along the way. She peppers her book with scriptural encouragement as well as a healthy dose of laughter.
Mahone has written an enlightening and hilarious look at the baby boomer generation and the aging process. I felt her advice and insights were awesome, and had a way of making me laugh at myself at some of the silliness I’ve experienced or bringing on a torrent of tears as I realized I wasn't the only one suffering through the same frustrations. Her writing style was in conversational tones that read like a frank discussion between girlfriends. Her message is priceless and every woman looking at middle age needs a copy of this book.
