On the outside, Shiquanna is a tough cookie with a razor-sharp tongue, but deep down she’s a lost soul yearning for love and guidance; numbing her pain and broken spirit with alcohol. Raised in a single parent home, Shiquanna has endured what no child should ever have to experience. While in high school she’s befriended by India, who feels empathy toward Shiquanna for her daily struggle with school assignments and the kids’ taunts.
India, a bright, career college student loves a debate. She expresses her thoughts and opinions over issues with passion and vigor. However, she has a difficult time admitting her alternative lifestyle to her family and friends. She’s only confided her secret to Shiquanna, but is now forced to make a decision which may change her life.
Holier-than- thou Yvonne makes it her business to pass judgment on anyone who doesn’t measure up to her success, beauty, and religious beliefs. She and India met in college, became great friends, soon adding Shiquanna to their intimate sister circle. Yvonne believes God has sent the minister of her church to be her husband. Her obsession over this man of God is clouding her Christian walk, causing her to do whatever it takes to get him.
Each woman gave their secrets so much power, they were headed for some form of self-destruction. However, in time, they were able to free themselves from their sadness and enjoy life. Peay poignantly writes each character’s life with sincere truth; their lives could easily be anyone’s life. TABLE FOR THREE is a tender, moving story, which will surely capture the hearts of its readers.
