In REAL: The Truth About Being Single, Kelly Chapman and Kenya Banks share their experiences in dating – the heartaches, pain, loneliness and shame. After seeking love their own way, they decided to try it God’s way and they penned this book to help others who are looking for love. The basic advice they share is to seek God first and allow Him to guide you to the right mate.
Chapters included are Girl, Do Men Lie?, Shake the Devil Off! Right Now!, and Real Love? Looking for Love in All the Right Places. Each chapter begins with a scripture verse and ends with a thought to consider. Throughout the book, biblical references are included to support the points. They also included poems and recommended other books to read on the topic.
REAL: The Truth About Being Single is a good reference guide for single women who are looking for a meaningful relationship with the right man. Single men can also gain from reading the book, as well since the same principles apply for them. The overall theme is to develop a relationship with God, which will set the foundation for any other relationship you engage in. The authors are straightforward and very honest, which gives the book a personal feel. This is a great book to open up dialogue about dating among Christians.
