A Closer Walk With Thee

Locksie is raised by her mother in a God-fearing home, and dragged from church to church whenever her mother feels a change is needed.  But when Locksie becomes an adult, she leaves the church and decides to live her life as she sees fit.  She is a manager, hairstylist, and a Mary Kay representative and to Locksie, her life is good.  She has the love of her live-in boyfriend Dawson, a fitness trainer, and her favorite aunt Mary. Aunt Mary is a Christian who plays an important role in Locksie's new walk with God and through their daily visits, Locksie learns that God wants to have an intimate relationship with us and that He wants us to submit ourselves to Him.

Locksie begins to notice changes in her thoughts and actions, but can't explain it. Dawson begins to notice too and it puts a wedge between them.  She feels the intimate moments between them are sinful and needs someone to talk to.  Hannah is one of Locksie's clients and a good friend, so she shares her feelings with Hannah, but Hannah has issues of her own at home.  Hannah's husband, Elkan brought "baby mama drama" into their marriage.  She is trying to forgive him and be a good stepmother, but she is really struggling with it; especially since she's been trying to conceive since their wedding night.

ME, MYSELF AND HIM is a reflective read. Both women ask what do you do when the people you love are not in that same walk with you? Do you stay with them or do you let them go? Locksie and Hannah faced these tough decisions while they were just beginning to find faith, trust and a new love.  In reading ME MYSELF AND HIM, I saw some of myself in Locksie. Also, in different areas in the book I felt E. N. Joy was speaking about me. ME, MYSELF AND HIM is a fast-paced read, with believable characters and situations, and a message that God will deliver on time.
