Keshari Mitchell has outgrown her past and is looking for a more successful and legitimate future. As the owner of Larger Than Lyfe Entertainment, she is signing some of the most promising up and coming acts and her ranks are growing in the entertainment business. One problem is her ties to the drug world. She is also at the reins of The Consortium, a drug empire created by former lover, Richard Tresvant, who is currently incarcerated and awaiting trial. Keshari wants out and expresses this to Richard who is not willing to accept her desire to walk away. This causes conflicts for Keshari as Richard’s trial becomes more high profile and her ties to him can potentially be exposed and he ensures she stays so deep in the game there is no way to escape.
LARGER THAN LYFE is an action packed rollercoaster ride, but it was also a very predictable read. The shocking opening of the book gave away the plan the protagonist had early in the book. I was also disappointed in some of the scenes in the book. Keshari did not behave as one who was attempting to keep her criminal activities a secret, as she did not exercise a lot of discretion. During her visit to Richard in prison, they openly discussed the drug business. Everyone knows that does not happen in the real world, especially since he had not gone to trial. Also, she didn’t take the proper precautions of a woman whose life was in danger. This gave an unbelievable element to the story for me. The story kept me reading to the end, but I would have it enjoyed it more if more attention were given to some of the details.
