Twenty-five years later, Oleana is now a successful businesswoman, but she has not moved on emotionally.  She takes a year's hiatus from her job to gather herself and fulfill her dream to write.  On the plane she meets Jason, a thirty-one year old ex-football player.  In Atlanta she meets Matthew, a twenty-five year old car salesman, who dabbles in finance and investment.   Both men are attracted to Oleana, she dates Jason, but she begins an ardent affair with Matthew. 

Oleana's year is running out and she still fluctuates between her indecisions about which man to commit to, the age differences of both men, and her fear she will end up alone; she knows first-hand men do leave.  Jason's need for her starts to pull her in, but she cannot displace her passion with Matthew.  For a moment I felt distanced from Oleana's character.  It was only when she reflects on her past she begins, in my opinion, to become touchable and to mature emotionally.  She questions why she never had friends, why she never tried for a permanent commitment, why she is without family, and if age really is just a number?  Then Matthew brings imminent drama when he insists she meet his parents, suddenly Oleana is staring at her unforgettable past.  The secondary characters are pivotal and the ending will literally leave readers hanging.  Emotions will run the gamut, as this is a rocky ride, which does not end on the last page.
