Fantasy fans may enjoy this historical erotica about a shape-shifter named Jacob who falls for the very shapely Ms. Mary Katherine. Jacob's ability to take the form of any animal gives him an advantage at leading slaves to freedom on the very coarse and dangerous Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad isn't the only place where his shape shifting ability helps him, it also helps him to beguile unsuspecting women.

Mary Katherine is also a mover and shaker on the Underground Railroad. She is a very stoic woman who is all work and no play. Her no-nonsense demeanor keeps Jacob at bay, but eventually she gives in and comes to enjoy the carnal relationship the pair share. Will these two live happily ever after, or will the pressures of their love and life route their relationship to disaster?

As a person who doesn't read much fantasy, I was surprised at how engrossed I became in the characters and the plot. The story is fluid and entertains with an over-the-top luxury afforded only to folklore and fantasy. If magic and mayhem captures your imagination, GIVEN will probably be a solid read for you.
