DEEP INSIDE LITEBLUE is an insider's look at the operation of the United States Postal System, the Processing and Distribution Center. As Ronald Williams, Jr. states, we assume when we hand our letter over at the post office, that's the end because P&DC is hidden from the mailer's eyes. In reality, the postal system is big business and has the same problems that other large businesses have. Employees are treated like "things" rather than humans who need nurturing and will work better when they are respected and appreciated. Supervisors tend to not see the employees as individuals and are certainly not open to discussions of what would not only improve the handling of the mail but also save money. To complain or make suggestions will surely bring the wrath of the supervisor such as no unscheduled days off no matter how far in advance the request. It is a unique look inside an area that Williams feels might not last if it is not improved.

The book is short and to the point. It is also well written and interesting. If you want to know what really goes on after you drop a letter in the box, this is the book for you.
