As she devises her plan of “Operation Steal Greg”, Samaria Jacobs reflects back to the days growing up in an Atlanta housing project. It isn’t long before she succumbs to the world of hustling to get money and wear the trendiest clothes. She knows stealing Greg Preston is going to be a piece of cake, but she needs to get friendly with his wife, Angelina to make it all happen.
Although Angelina is married to a successful surgeon, styles in the classiest clothes, and lives in a mini mansion her life is far from glamorous. She’s grieving the untimely death of their daughter, the welfare of a child connected with her job, and burning suspicions of a cheating husband. However, when she becomes the mentor of the woman who newly joins the Women’s Bible Study at her church, she truly believed she found a friend during her personal madness.
AN INCONVENIENT FRIEND is the sophomore novel to Secrets and Lies where the reader is introduced to Samaria Jacobs. Ms. McKnight intensifies this manipulative character with more venom, yet made me feel a small amount of compassion for her. All the characters come to life displaying a wide range of emotions from anger to kindness. A smoothly blended story line of the Bible and everyday life, AN INCONVENIENT FRIEND will have you looking closer into your relationships.
